Foam Roof

Application Instructions

Pressure wash when possible using pure water. Be sure the surface is clean and completely dry before the application of the coating. Read all label instructions before beginning. Surface must be in savable condition, be clean and dry, and have proper drainage. Always run a test patch first in an inconspicuous area, to ensure that proper adhesion and drying occurs and the product works to your satisfaction. Use Ames’® Peel & Stick™ adhesive seam tape and tape all joints, seams, and around vents. Do not use any soaps or detergents to clean the surface. Call toll free 1-888-345-0809 for specific instructions.

Ames® premium elastomeric roof coatings can be applied with a paint brush, a push broom, a low nap roller with a long handle, or a commercial/industrial airless sprayer. In addition, you may need Ames® Peel & Stick Seam Tape as well as scissors, a utility knife, and a standard paint tray.

For larger commercial jobs, we recommend a commercial/industrial airless sprayer. Call 888-345-0809 with questions or  Click Here for Sprayer Specifications

Step 1: Prime with Ames® Super Primer™ at the rate of 1 gallon per 200 square feet per coat. Goes on milky white and dries clear in about 30 minutes to an hour.

Step 2: Apply two to three coats of Ames® Elasto-Barrier® until roof surface is smooth and sealed.

Step 3: Finish with at least two coats of Ames® Maximum-Stretch® or a similar Ames® acrylic elastomeric roof  coating.

Weather & Drying Guidelines:

Ames® Super Primer™, Super Elasto Barrier® and Maximum-Stretch® is best applied between 50° to 90° F (10° to 32° C) on warm, dry surfaces. Apply when the streets are dry, the sun is in the sky and no inclement weather is forecast. Starts to dry in about 2-8 hours, depending on thickness of application and weather. It is  recommended to allow a minimum of 24 hours between coats with no rain in the forecast and no freezing temperatures. Low temperatures, high humidity and evening and morning dew will require increased drying/curing time. Do not apply after 2pm for best drying. The earlier you can put it on, the better. Make sure any morning dew is completely dried off before proceeding.

Estimated Coverage:

Standard product coverage on a smooth surface for Ames® Super Primer™ is 200 sq. ft. per gallon per coat and the product coverage rate for Ames® Super Elasto Barrier® and Ames® Maximum Stretch® is 100 sq. ft. per gallon per coat. Rough or uneven surfaces may require additional product. More than one coat of Ames® Maximum Stretch® is recommended. More coats equal longer life.

Clean-up, Storage, and Disposal:

Clean tools and small spills with pure water, no soaps or detergents needed. Store unused product in its original container, tightly sealed and protect from freezing. Dispose of this product in accordance with local, state, or federal requirements.
