Decks, Patios, Walkways & Steps Testimonials

Gene (and staff) -

It has been a rare pleasure dealing with you and your company. The personal service with my phone order was exemplary - couldn't have been better. My questions were all answered, and then you offered additional information to make sure that the products I wanted were suitable for the job.

The products arrived quickly, and the packaging was bomb-proof. I was covering a front porch of vertical grain T&G Doug Fir that is exposed to both sun and rain. No, not the typical job that your paints are designed for, but I figured they might work better than anything else. The boards were developing gaps from repeated expansion and shrinking over the years. I sanded off a lot of the old paint (rented a large rectangular orbital sander) and then used a coat of Super Primer. Next I filled the wider gaps with VIP Elastomeric Ter-polymer Sealant (not your product, but one that has served me well in the past). Then applied a second coat of Super Primer, followed by 2 coats of Super Elasto-Barrier, and I couldn't believe how well everything worked! The deck appears to be virtually waterproof, and looks so good in dark gray that my wife thinks we should leave it that way! We just had 5 inches of rain and it ran off the deck like water off the proverbial duck's back. I'm going to use 1-2 additional coats of the Super-Elasto Barrier before I decide whether to use the Safe-T-Deck...

...Again, I want to thank you for the superb service and the awesome quality of your products. I have already shown it off to my contractor-neighbor, who is very impressed.

Best regards from a very happy customer.

Gene, I just wanted to let you know that I got my deck painted with Safe-T-Deck. It looks great and the surface temperature is dramatically reduced. We can comfortably stand on the deck in the direct sunlight on a ninety + degree day. We couldn't do that before using Safe-T-Deck.

I only needed to use about nine gallons for two coats. The second coat was put on very thick. I basically just pushed the paint around. I'll used the remaining 6 gallons over the next few years putting on more layers.

One thing I noticed right away was the way water beads on the surface. This produce must really keep the wood dry, because water absolutely doesn't get past it. I'm delighted with the results and I'm recommending your product to anyone else I know that has a wood deck her in Jacksonville. Thanks for your help in solving my hot deck problem...

Hi Gene,

Just wanted to share some photos with you. I just finished my patio floor using your Blue Max and Safe-T-Deck products. The original concrete is about 25 years old with many cracks all over the place. I power washed the floor first and filled all the cracks with the liquid cement. Two coats of the Blue Max were applied and two coats of the Safe-T-Deck. It’s still a little tacky but looks very good. By the way, if you check the roof on the top of the patio, you will see your other product in use. Few years ago I had some of the Maximum Stretch left (from my big roof project). The roof started to rust inside from humidity and moister condensation. I decided to apply Maximum Stretch right on the top of the old paint. And it works too! No rust, no peeling. I think you can add rust protective coatings to your product line as well.

Anyway, thank you for working with me on this project.
Best Regards,
Alex Roytman

I ordered your Super Primer and Safe-T-Deck for my 15yr old wood deck on back of my home. We were tired of burning our feet and getting splinters in our feet and our guests feet. Boy does this stuff work!!! We finished replacing our deck boards that were rotten, and put down the Super Primer first (by sprayer 3 coats) and we thinned the Safe-T-Deck and put 3 coats down by roller. Now our deck is splinterless and cool to our feet, even on the hottest 100 degree day in full sun. We love it!! Hope it lasts for a long time.

Thank You,
Brenda Sims

Hi Peter,

We have talked on the phone a couple of times and you have been very helpful. I am "JD" (John Ashby) with Central Valley Repair, Inc in Fresno, CA.

I installed Liquid granite to our small concrete porch and if looks great! It is very old/cured concrete. I primed the area with Super Primer after removing all residual carpet glue with a 9" grinder with a braided wire cup brush. I installed the first coat of Liquid granite with a paint roller, but found that it created an extreme stipple effect when it dried. Zillions of tiny points sticking up that were very sharp and nearly impossible to walk on. I applied 2 more coats of Liquid Granite using a concrete trowel to smooth out the surface after rolling the product on. This turned out very nice. I have attached 3 photos of the completed job, in case you were interested in seeing them.

Thank you for your help.

JD Ashby

Hello Jeff,

Attached you will find the before and after pictures of our front stairs and sidewalk. We cleaned the area with bleach and TSP, and then rinsed the area. We let the area dry, and then coated it with Ames' Super Primer. We let the area dry, and then coated stairs with three coats of Ames' Red Liquid Granite on the stairs and two coats of Ames' Red Liquid Granite on the sidewalk.
