The Ames® Company specializes in the making
of specialty rubber and plastic coatings that
extend the life of roof surfaces. These products stretch with
the surface and form a waterproof membrane that seals and protects your roof.
Before beginning any project, read all instruction labels. Always run a test patch first in an inconspicuous
area, to ensure that proper adhesion and drying occurs and
the product works to your satisfaction.
Ames premium elastomeric products are Waterbase, VOC-free, Environmentally Friendly, and Clean easily with Water.
How to Repair a Flat Roof
PREPARE THE SURFACE
How to fix flat roofs with Ames roof coatings is really a simple process even for the
“do it yourselfer”. The first thing you should do is to power wash the entire surface area of
the roof, which will remove most of the loose material.
Use caution, so as not to damage any interior areas due
to roof leakage that are inside the building. Fill any
large cracks and crevices with mortar. Install adequate drains to drain flat roofs.
SEAM TAPE
Seam tape all cracks larger than one-eighth
of an inch with Ames Peel & Stick Seam Tape. This tape comes in 2 inch, 4 inch, and 6 inch
widths by 50-foot rolls. This rubber tape contours easily
to the surface and will stick with remarkable adhesion
to the surface. Once applied the seam tape will be difficult to
remove.

PRIME THE SURFACE
After preparing the surface, prime the roof
with Ames Super Elasto-Barrier.
Super Elasto-Barrier will flow into the cracks
and crevices to seal and protect the roof surface. It will bond to the
suface with remarkable adhesion. Apply at least two gallons per 100 sq. ft. of Super
Elasto-Barrier or similar Ame's product.

TOPCOAT THE SURFACE
Finally,
apply two to three gallons per 100 sq. ft. of Ames Maximum-Stretch or Snow Seal roof coating. Snow Seal is our original roof coating with up to 500 percent elongation. Maximum-Stretch is our premium roof coating with up to 750 percent elongation. Both are bright white to reflect heat away from the roof.

CLEAN-UP, STORAGE, AND DISPOSAL
Clean tools and small spills with water. Store unused product in its original can, tightly sealed and protected from freezing. Dispose of this product in accordance with local, state, or federal requirements.
