What You Need:

Super Primer 5 gallon                Safe-T-Deck Granulated 5 gallon     or       Liquid Granite 5 gallon

Detailed Application Instructions

Products: Ames® Super Primer™,  Ames® Safe-T-Deck® and Ames® Liquid Granite®

Tools:

Brush – Use a nylon/polyester brush.

Roller – Use a 3/8″- 3/4″ nap synthetic cover.

Trowel – For Liquid Granite only.

Preparation:

Concrete decks and floors should be wire brushed and power-washed. In certain situations a shot-blaster may be needed to roughen the surface. Vacuum away any excess dust or debris.  Read all label instructions before beginning. Always run a test patch first in an inconspicuous area to ensure that proper adhesion and drying occurs and the product works to your satisfaction.

Safe-T-Deck Application:

Apply a coat of Ames® Super Primer™ (at the rate of 1 gal. / 200 sq ft.) to fill in cracks and increase adhesion to concrete.  It will go on milky white and will dry clear in approximately 30 min. to an hour. It leaves a clear, slightly tacky surface that is ideal for coating.  Then top coat with two coats of Ames® Safe-T-Deck® smooth or granulated if a non-skid surface is desired.

Liquid Granite Application:

Surfaces should be wire brushed or pressure washed to remove any loose dirt or debris. Do not apply Liquid Granite over damp or severely decomposing concrete. Repair the concrete and allow to cure for up to 30 days prior to application of Liquid Granite. Concrete should be approximately 6 inches above ground water. Apply Ames® Super Primer™ on areas with heavy use and in commercial applications. Topcoat with one or more coats of Ames® Liquid Granite®. Standard product coverage is approximately five gallons per 70-100 sq. feet per coat. Rough surfaces may require additional coating. Most surfaces will only require one coat; however, a second coat may be required in some applications. Areas where standing water may occur may require annual maintenance or cleaning.  Some surfaces may require maintenance because of potentially severe weather conditions or excessive wear and tear. Other surfaces may require priming with Ames® Super Elasto-Barrier®.

Weather & Drying Guidelines:

Products are best applied between 50° to 90° F (10° to 32° C) on warm dry surfaces. Apply when the streets are dry, the sun is in the sky and no inclement weather is forecast. Starts to dry in 2-8 hours, minimum of 24 hours between coats if possible for best results, depending on thickness of application and weather; cures in 24 hours. Low temperatures, high humidity and evening and morning dew will require increased drying/curing time.

Estimated Coverage:

Ames® Super Primer™ standard product coverage on a smooth surface is 100 to 200 square feet per gallon per coat. Rough surfaces such as cinder block may require additional product and drying time.

Ames® Liquid Granite® standard product coverage is approximately five gallons per 70-100 sq. feet per coat. Rough surfaces may require additional coating. Most surfaces will only require one coat; however, a second coat may be required in some applications.

Ames® Safe-T-Deck® applies at the rate of 1 gallon per 100 square feet.  A minimum of two coats is recommended for a durable waterproof surface.
